We are the Souelas Stories Team consists of 4 young individuals that are united by our passion for the arts. Our capstone multimedia projects explore the cultural significance of Marikina shoemaking while honoring the people involved who keep this craft alive. By sharing their challenges, dedications, and triumphs, we hope to enlighten and inspire the younger generations to cherish this legacy and preserve this tradition for years to come.

To inspire younger generations to develop a deeper appreciation for the shoemaking craftsmanship of Marikina as a cherished part of Filipino culture, nurturing understanding of why this tradition continues to become relevant within these present times and encouraging the younger generations to preserve it.

MISSION

To foster meaningful connections between Marikina shoemakers and younger audiences through a web-based platform that features documentary films, informative articles, and artisan-led workshops, promoting awareness of the craft’s cultural importance while strengthening appreciation and supporting the sustainability of the Marikina footwear industry.
